Gentlecolt Collaborations

        Why should I donate?

This question is from Not OneBlood, who asks,"Hello, I was just curious as to what do you anticipate will be the difference in release times between the good few who donate, and those selfish masses who won't lift so much as 3-dollars to something they're obviously going to spend many-a hour upon. I'd ask about demo release date in general, but I know that would just be a waste of time."
Well, there is no planned release date for the demo, but we are shooting for December, or maybe January.  And donators should expect the release a week before at the most. Maybe.-Jeff

When the demo is done, it will be released, to everypony. Donators will get to test a BETA version of the demo, before we improve it and officially release it. The same will apply to every other release.

This one is from NovelistBrony, who asks,
"Hey Gentlecolts! I noticed that the front page has increased the donation required to get the game early from $2 to $3. As one of the ones who donated the $2 before the change, do I still get the game early, or will I have to shell out another $1?
The answer is no. We love and tolerate all of our previous donators.  You don't have to shell out a penny more!
Unless you want to.  That would be appreciated also.
-Jeff

Yeah, you get on our VIP list if you donate the minimum amount as of that time. Changes to that amount will only affect donations made after the change. So yes, you will still get to beta test.

Not Oneblood asks: What exactly do you intend to do for advertising this? What do you plan to do for it and possibly already doing? I've noted that the Facebook like count has been going up rather quickly, at least in comparison to how it was before. Knowing the pony fandom at large, you all deserve to have much more than this. Maybe we could actually have a few more people asking questions that way as well?

We don't really need much publicity right now. When we get the game out, however, we will work on spreading the word; and I hope all our fellow bronies will help us with that!
It's kind of strange our facebook page ain't that popular, though. We got under 100 likes in one month, but the website gets over 1k hits a day.

Not Oneblood asks: Do you think that you can perchance expand upon the basic premise story-wise? While I understand that the project is still heavily in development, and the demo is still on its way. Is there any more information we can get on some vague things that may be involved? And another question, how will the events progress? Will you have to perhaps make at least 1-pony not completely despise you for the story to continue in some fashion? Or can you do just about anything that you please and vital events will just play out over certain dates on the calender, regardless of your relations with the cast at large. Can I be a complete tool and douchebag to everypony and still continue?

The story will progress as time goes by (you can do x things in a day), there's nothing you can do about that. But, if you don't have certain requirements at certain times, you won't be able to do certain things. I can't really say any more at the moment, we don't even know if we will have Game Overs or not.

Not Oneblood asks: So...What's your opinion on Season 2 so far? Also, I've noted that the OT Questioning form is a bit different.

I thought the two-parter was awesome. Dunno how the rest of the season will be, though.
I have no idea why Jeff created a separate thing for off-topic stuff. I think it's enough that we have an off topic tag. Also, some entries include multiple questions (like this one), maybe one on topic and one off topic. The reason that page looked different was because Jeff simply put some default thingy on there... but I've removed that page now. If we add it again in the future I will make sure it's done properly.

Not Oneblood asks: Hello, compliments for that pretty dedication text aside. What exactly due this 'Acts' detail? Can we expect after the initial demo for the game to be released in an episodic function for each act? And do you theorize that they'd be roughly the same in length, or perhaps wildly different?

The full game will consist of four Acts. They will revolve around a big event, eg Act I will be about the preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration. We will release these Acts by themselves, meaning Act I will come out first, and then it might take some time until Act II is out. There will also have passed a long time in-game between these. We don't know how long the acts will be.
The demo will simply show a small part of Act I, which we actually call Act 0, when you're introduced to all the ponies etc.
